How to... maximise storage space in a small kitchen
Storage space in a small kitchen is a common problem, but you can squeeze in more with careful planning and by installing some space saving devices.
Here we list a few small kitchen ideas that we hope will help the kitchen-space challenged.
1 Walls Got some spare wall? Put up a wall rack, or even a pegboard with hooks attached. Then hang pots and pans from the wall.
2 CeilingSame idea, but if your walls are already crammed full, ceiling racks are an alternative.
3 CornersMake the most of corners with carousel units which use space that would otherwise be wasted. ALNO’s Magic Corner for base and wall units is an extremely clever mechanism which allows every last corner of space to be used, opening up 38% more storage space than a standard cupboard.

4 Tall unitsIncreasing the height of your work surfaces allows for taller base units and that means more storage space. ALNO offers two heights: 650mm and 780mm, the latter provides 20% extra space.
5 Cabinet doorsFit shelves to the inside of doors. ALNO’s side units offer this facility. Shelves are fitted to the inside of the cabinet door, whilst the internal shelves conveniently slide forward when the door is open to allow easy access to day-to-day items.

6 StackUse stackable containers. Not a huge space saver, but every little helps.
7 DrawersTake advantage of modern drawer options and choose the depth that exactly suits your storage needs. ALNO offer drawers in depths of 45, 60 and 75cm, which can provide up to 27% more storage space.

8 Rational storageNot exactly a space saver but a good tip for organising storage is to store it where you use it when it comes to deciding what goes in which cupboard. Having saucepans stored next to the oven or cups above the kettle all helps!
9 LightNot a space saver at all but light decor and good lighting can add to the feeling of space. Sometimes that is almost as important.
