Floating kitchens

Design will continue to become more futuristic, with units that seem to float above the ground. These increase the feeling of space in a room. ALNO, is leading the way with the introduction of its innovative Edition Fly. Newly developed bracket technology has allowed ALNO to mount the base units for all its kitchen ranges directly onto the wall. Edition Fly is particularly appealing in an open plan kitchen, where the flying units ease the transition from cooking to living area. The super sleek ALNOSTAR Highline (left) features the suspended Edition Fly units.

Blurring the boundaries

Householders will continue to embrace boundary free living, where cooking, dining and living areas become blurred. The introduction of more multifunctional furniture, such as kitchen storage units that double as informal low level seating, will appeal to those seeking a sociable space.

Bridges in design

Designers can add a contemporary twist to the kitchen layout by incorporating a bridge into the design. Not only do they add a little drama to the kitchen they provide the perfect breakfast bar or a relaxed home working spot. Choosing a complementary material to the worktop or unit fronts will add a stylish feel to the space. Glass fronted doors, Edition Fly floating units and a chunky breakfast bar create the perfect contemporary combination in this spacious kitchen (left).

Gloss fronts

High gloss doors remain a must have for consumers and ALNO has introduced new kitchen programmes to reflect this trend — ALNOCHARME and ALNOFLASH. SHINE uses a high gloss foil front to create the highly sought after glass effect at an attractive price. FLASH features two fashionable metallic finishes, with refreshing champagne and silver shades to brighten up the kitchen.

Glass

Glass looks set to stay in the kitchen for at least another year. Devonians adore ALNO's ultra-sleek glass fronted doors, whether the glass is used on top of a solid colour or a wood finish. Glass provides an excellent reflective surface helping to create the impression of space within the room. We will see further colour options this year, including a shimmering champagne and graphite option from ALNO's award-winning ART PRO range.
