Contemporary Living
- Customer: Les Marston and Sally Fraser
- Kitchen: ALNOLOOK in white
- Kitchen design: Space, light and simplicity were key to the design for this ultra modern home.
Designer, Mike Richards explains:
Les and Sally took inspiration from a circular display in our Exeter showroom. Their kitchen took on an all white colour scheme, with recessed handles and simple ALNOLOOK doors, to provide a fresh and flawless look. I used 70mm Corian worktops that ran over the edge of the units, right to the floor, achieving sleek lines and a unique style.
The appliances were seamlessly incorporated into the kitchen, including a warming drawer, pyrolitic oven, induction hob and dishwasher. The latest Elica Star extraction hood hangs above the hob, complementing the round design and adding extra glamour with its chandelier-like appearance.
Sally is delighted with her kitchen:
"The curvaceous design is unique and practical and makes the most of a small space. Mike’s design moves away from the norm and has given us a really exciting space, where we spend a lot of our time"
Modern Minimalism
- Customer: Charles Ellis
- Kitchen: ALNOSIGN in high gloss white
- Kitchen design: Minimalist, with clean, unbroken runs of kitchen units and uncluttered work surfaces with integrated appliances.
Andy Bradbury explains:
Charles wanted a kitchen to blend in with the white walls, timber floors and olive green joinery elsewhere in the connecting rooms.
Our solution was to blend high gloss ALNOSIGN kitchen units with a Corian work surface to give a minimalist effect. A stunning red glass breakfast bar provided an eye catching focal point.
The use of Corian was a conscious decision to emphasise the uncluttered appearance. Unlike traditional worktops, Corian does not come in sections but is custom-designed in one piece to the required shape. Sinks are moulded into the material at the appropriate point.
The Everest white worktop was inlaid with olive green to provide a subtle injection of complementing colour to the kitchen units. While the seamless run of worktop is a perfect example of how Corian can completely change the dynamics of a room.
Charles is delighted with the result:
"The kitchen has been totally transformed. With the flawless work surface and the sleek white units the whole room appears more spacious. The red breakfast bar adds a hint of contemporary glamour."
Entertainment Centre
- Customer: Marie and Jerry Kent
- Kitchen: ALNOTEC Pro in high gloss red and graphite
- Kitchen design: Practical, yet sensational with plenty of storage.
Designer, Terry Partridge explains:
The Kent’s house stylishly combines many features; huge glass walls, large open spaces, stainless steel balconies and curved concrete stairs. Therefore the Kent’s needed a kitchen that could hold its own in a house wedded to design on such a grand scale.
The kitchen is the command and control centre of the Kent’s house, so I created a multifunctional island with a view to the garden and many adjoining rooms, where Marie and Jerry can prepare food, eat and socialise. Its unique shape provides a great focal point to the room.
As the house is centred on open space and clean lines, storage in the kitchen was extremely important.
To avoid clutter we enhanced storage by using deep drawers and a full circle carousel in the corner units. A neat roller system between the hob and the sink gives a convenient area to hide small appliances.
Marie is very pleased with the job Bradbury’s has done:
"The kitchen fits so well with the rest of the house. I love coming down in the morning and preparing the children’s breakfast with such lovely views. It’s such a social space, I never feel shut off from the rest of the family."
